How having a Registered Nurse (RN) perform an in-home assessment is beneficial to you

Byadmin March 26, 2023April 4, 2023

Did you know that Ohana Care employs Registered Nurses? Having a registered nurse (RN) do an in-home care assessment can be beneficial for several reasons. First, RNs are highly trained and skilled healthcare professionals with the knowledge and expertise to accurately assess an individual’s healthcare needs and develop a care plan tailored to their specific situation.

What is covered during an in-home assessment?

During an in-home care assessment, an RN will take a thorough medical history, conduct a physical examination, and assess the individual’s overall health and functional abilities. This information can help the RN determine the level of care needed and identify any potential issues or concerns that may need to be addressed.

In addition to assessing the individual’s physical needs, an RN can also assess their cognitive and emotional well-being and identify any social or environmental factors that may impact their care. This can help the RN develop a comprehensive care plan that addresses all aspects of the individual’s health and well-being.

An RN can also provide education and support to the individual and their family, helping them understand their healthcare needs and manage their condition. This can be especially important for those dealing with a chronic or complex health condition, as RNs have the expertise to provide specialized care and support.

Additional recommendations and services RNs can offer

The RN may also recommend services, devices, and programs found in the community. Ohana Care has several trusted resources and partnerships that can be accessed for a wide range of health concerns: physiotherapists, denturists, hearing specialists, hairstylists that visit at home, speech-language pathologists, etc. Based on viewing the client’s environment and considering the client’s ability to accomplish their daily living activities, the RN may be able to suggest devices and resources to access them. The RN is knowledgeable in strength and balance for Parkinson’s patients’ programs, caregiver support groups for those with Alzheimer’s, day programs, pool exercise classes, and many other services offered in the community.

Overall, having a registered nurse do an in-home care assessment can ensure that individuals receive the highest quality of care and support, helping them to maintain their independence and quality of life. Our Ohana Care Team, led by an RN, is committed to providing high-quality, safe, and reliable in-home experience for you and your loved ones.
